Healthy tips for busy people. Get the skinny. Start feeling better.

Every Step Counts

Every Step Counts

by Holly Foreman - January 07, 2016

Many times when we ask a group of people, ‘What is the best exercise for you?’ the response is ‘walking’. There are many opinions and options for exercise but you have to decide what is best for you, so you will stick to it!

If you like doing something, you are more likely to maintain that activity as a habit. If you do not like something, do not make yourself do it because the first chance you get to skip out, it’s over!

Walking is a great way to add activity throughout your day because it easy, convenient, and good for you. It does not require equipment or designated space. All you need is a hallway or some outdoor space to add some extra steps.

The recommended number of steps for one day is 10,000. If you have ever tracked your steps and are not intentionally going for a walk, chances are you are not reaching that number on any given day.

Whether it’s taking a quick break at work for a walk or parking a little further away at the grocery store, find ways to move more during the day.

Here are some suggestions from the National Recreation and Park Association.

Walking more during the day requires little effort and makes a big difference. Start adding steps to your day, TODAY!
