Are You Up to the Challenge?

Are You Up to the Challenge?

by Health & Wellness Team - September 05, 2013

The second annual Healthy at H-E-B Community Challenge begins on September 1st and ends November 1st. This eight-week competition challenges cities, towns, and communities across the state to compete to see which can demonstrate the greatest commitment to healthy living.

The Healthy at H-E-B Community Challenge is designed to provide an easy and fun way to encourage healthy activities within your organization and your community.

Communities are grouped into categories according to their population. A winning community from each category will be identified. San Angelo will be competing as a mid-sized community, with communities like Pflugerville and Pearland.

Check out the website and learn how individuals, schools, businesses, faith-based organizations and community organizations can get involved. The more activities each group participates in or hosts, the more points San Angelo earns for our community! The challenge is based on a points system and all activities are tracked online.

How can you get involved?

To get started, go to: Just by registering on the site, you earn the community 50 POINTS!

Schools can earn points for their community by encouraging superintendents, principals,
Parent-teacher Association (PTA) and School Board members to take the IT’S TIME TEXAS pledge and by showcasing healthy activities happening on school campuses.
Businesses and organizations can get involved by signing the IT’S TIME TEXAS Pledge and by uploading healthy activities to the Community Challenge website. Businesses and organizations are also rewarded for implementing health policies that support the health of their members and employees.
Community members can earn points by uploading health‐focused photos and videos and by tracking their physical fitness weekly.
